Transport is a major source of supply chain emissions, but shippers have more levers than they think.
- Shift modes where you can. Moving suitable cargo from air to sea, or from road to rail, cuts emissions per tonne kilometre dramatically.
- Fill the box. Better packaging and load planning reduce the number of trips.
- Consolidate. Fewer, fuller shipments beat many small ones.
- Choose lower carbon options. Ask for rail, biofuel or sustainable aviation fuel options on your key lanes.
- Measure it. You cannot manage what you do not measure. Shipment level emissions reporting makes trade offs visible.
